Spinning out of GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY #1, almost the entire galaxy’s defenders have been blown through a black hole, including the Silver Surfer! But the story doesn’t end there… In order to fight back the oblivion, Surfer will have to fight to save his own soul and not lose himself to the void. Follow the Sentinel of the Spaceways on a journey that will change him forever! From superstars Donny Cates (VENOM, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY) and Tradd Moore (ALL-NEW GHOST RIDER, VENOM)!

For me, everyone else and the entire world it’s clearly known that the Silver Surfer is one of the most powerful characters in the Marvel universe and now he has a brand new comic series... which if this first issue is anything to go by it’s going to be AM-A-ZING!!!! I’ll be honest it’s not for everyone but take my word for it, If you’re a fan of the cosmic side of Marvel Comics, Silver Surfer: Black is the new series for you and you will not be disappointed. @dcates new series picks up from his new Guardians of the Galaxy series and follows the Surfer after the attack from Thanos’ Black Order. We see the former herald of Galactus save the other heroes from a black hole, but at what cost?

Silver Surfer: Black #1 is a truly quality reminder of how great a character the Silver Surfer is. If I’m honest I didn’t really rate him after the terrible Fantastic Four movie franchise and I agree he doesn’t get the same love as Spider-Man, Wolverine, or Iron Man, but After reading the Guardians of the Galaxy and following up with this comic I actually find myself more excited by him when he’s paired up with the right creative team than just about any other character.

For me it’s clear to see that Donny Cates, Tradd Moore and Dave Stewart have worked closely to make a superb comic that brings each and every strength of Silver Surfer to the forefront. This issue is a strong mix of action and a reintroduction to the Silver Surfer. The reading of some of the text is a bit hard to narrate to begin with but once you find your way, old and new fans will find the issue easy to get into and gives the reader a clear set up for how the series will go.

I can’t say enough about the art and coloring, for me it’s the best the Silver Surfer has looked in comic book form. A great start to what looks like what will be a great series. Even Donny Cates himself has come out publically and said that there will be huge surprise at the end of the run... it seems that Silver Surfer: Black is just another part of @dcates master plan and I for one will be sticking around to find out what that will be.
